Let's see I'm starting a new business. Is it smart to discount my price to get my first customer. A young man living in the street with a real addiction decides to start a business. Does he have a shot listen. I'm in we got some good conversations. Hi Barbara My name's Andrew my companies in a pair align that raises awareness awareness of addiction and mental health fashionable. Roach and I'm having a hard time coming full circle like a half the brand. I have the purpose so what I'm raising awareness of however. I don't have the education part. How do I educate the public law and I don't have a degree in mental health or addiction. I just have life experience. How far will life experience getty banking so I feel like I have to have a better handle on on the product itself. I get where you're going and your most important question is. I have just life experience. How far will life experience get me and in answer to that right off the bat. That's everything so I'm not. GonNa worry about that for the moment but I want to apply it to your actual brand and what you're actually selling because I couldn't figure that out. Okay we are selling clothing. Okay that I know but what's the point of difference in the clothing and how does it tie into your messaging. The messages Hope uh-huh Quick Story. I myself suffer with mental. Illness and addiction are suffered with ten or fifteen years longtime. I you sound like a young guy. I've read the book the Enid and sometimes it's not just a product that you're selling a lot of times. It's an emotion and right. Now I kind of want to shine light on those people that do suffer from mental illness and addiction to give them hope. I've been homeless a couple times. Wow I was was just homeless three months ago so for me to have you on the phone right now. It's kind of a miracle. It's a miracle I have you on the phone. Yes and coming make from that background of being homeless. I've learned to live with other people and I've learned here people out and not be so quick to judge. My company is a startup accompany in I don't have is in my tease cross. I have been working on the concept for over a decade. I just went into business. In my first sale. In March. You had the idea percolating for many years and then you started your business. How did you start. Did you develop one product. I yeah right now. I'm using a third party vendor at loved getaway from I'm Kinda scaling the market in trying to find a demand okay. I tell me what your product was. One product copy mode a coffee mug. Okay and did it have messaging on the coffee. Mug I call it. The contemporary ink blot and it was a blue ink blot this at every rebel on it. I was at the homeless shelter the star of two thousand seventeen at sat there in a I'm losing everything I lost. My car lost my dog. I lost my apartment. How am I ever going to get back on my feet again. Bad Place to be good for you the standing up. I'm so oh very grateful. It started out as a block the whole concept of the every rebel website when I was at the homeless shelter. was that okay okay. This is GonNa be my story success and I'm going to take you every step of the way and if you go to every rebel dot com click on blog and you'll see like my my original plan about twelve years now to two thousand eight was on idea starter resonating with me and it's just every rebels. Take me on this journey. I went to the military. I was in the military almost five years. I went to college however I wasn't showing up to work for myself. I wasn't showing up to every rebel saying this is where I'm bringing to the table today too busy doing what everybody asks of me. Take me back if you could for a minute to the product itself because the way in which I could be most helpful to you is getting you out of the situation where you said that you have a hard time coming full circle. I don't think you meant and by that in your question of full circle of life although we all have a hard time doing the full circle of life but I thought it was more specific to wanting I'm to bring this avocation slash business nonprofit or whatever you wish to call it to fruition so that you could make some kind of a difference and right now. I'm just scaling the market in learning as much as I can right now. I'm reading Mr John's book rising grind terrific book. Okay US talking talking about Damon John's folk. WHO's my fellow shark on the set? One of the very important lessons in his book was how to sell his product. I don't know if you were at that section yet. The back references I believe how he sold US I t shirts he went to all the hip pop bands and war it and sold it right off his back at a parking lot. Yes yes genius and simple the power of broke phenomenal book okay but to that important lesson. That's what you're missing from the little I've been able to garner from what you're saying. You're getting ready for the business. You really believe in it. You have the passion which is the best place to start any business but you're having a hard time getting being out there making the sale and making it take on a life of its own. Am I listening to you well. You hit the nail on at Barbara. Okay then here's what you gotTa do and this is the best way I can help you. You have to stop getting ready. If you have a particular t shirt and you're not entirely happy with it the coloration the screen print you have your message which I love by the way I think it's impactful message. I think it's a great slogan. I could see that in my mind's eye okay. I think what you have to do who is just one hundred made and see if you could sell them a small run a hundred made put one on your back. Maybe get some of your other friends to walk around with it and and then make sure your website is imprinted on it somewhere on the hemline on the side panel. What have you and see if you could sell one hundred shirts. That's all one color. One skew one design. That's not going to be perfect. It's not going to be the right color. It's not going to be sized properly but get one hundred churches eve. You could sell this magic that that happens. If you actually have someone Hanyu the twenty bucks fifty bucks for the shirt without even hearing a message or your spiel or know about your website but they actually give you cash for a product. You have either on your backer in your hand. This gotta be Fares. Will you could open a little box store writing affair next to the lady selling Apple Pie or tarts take a lesson from Damon John. He never for once in starting his multi. Million Dollar. Business thought that the customer would come. I'm to him he never once thought. Let me get it right. He experimented with it on his back and that's the Keats the fortune he made. I hear Aman talking to me right now. Who's telling me he has the passion very important. You can't fake people. He has the ability to really want to not not let go of his dream. We've had a ten years. You can't let it go. You have to see it through but you don't know how to get it to first base from home. Plate the way you get into first basis to make the sale. Take whatever money you have is sure to run as you have even if you screen printing myself and it's a lousy printshop put it on your back and get out there and sell a couple. That's all you really have to do even five if it can't be a hundred can out sell it and then you'll have the time and luxury later on to get your messaging out to include what other people to make it the beautiful dream that you always envisioned but it starts with a sale that makes sense. That's Great."
