Listen: Jason Lytle, Papa, Kramer discussed on All Songs Considered
"Skirt. Nice. Me. He fewer on. If you want to be. I have to say Bob, even playing some very good music today. Play that in a minute, but, but what back timing is, right? Yeah, yeah. For people who aren't, you know, radio profession. So the idea was that we would back time we would start the popcorn so that when the song, so when the song ends. The pop home would be Poppins. Get the nice. Yeah, one piece of popcorn for every thirty years about all. I, it's, it's not what I would call an orgy of. This little, it's sort of that's it. I just while this thing is making it made me think being here thirty years made me think about when I first arrived at NPR it was the most disgusting place I've ever worked in all of my years of working anywhere in my entire life. This is this is two buildings ago like, yeah, we're in our third headquarters. There was I did a video. You can look it up on YouTube. It's called the chairs of NPR and China document discussing this of this place through the chairs, the furniture that was here most of the chairs have four functioning wheels, chairs where the, it's not like. There was no support systems in any that are all broken. Many of them had foam coming out of it anyway, radio. That's true. So you if you wanna watch the chairs here, I think that Papa you take the red handle their, I turn the switch and then pull the handle. I see. Okay. It really is just like the movies except instead of giant bag of popcorn. You get like a couple of hand 'cause you can be here. Can you here. Pri once popcorn aren't breeze here watching, I might say the first show that she's ever seen us do. She's been four weeks, crazy schedule by the way, just played this mea, followed when. Oh, really was lovely. I'm men it. When I said you're actually playing some good music today and weird. I wanted to say about me, follow. But I'll say this new record comes out Friday. The nineteenth premonitions that's called thingamajig, so beautiful you can do while I've got one more thing. And you know, I said, comes from ours, very personal to me, and that's Jason Lytle. All. Jason doesn't know this, of course that you know, you know, he doesn't know how many nights I've spent standing outside in the darkness outside his house. You know, just watching, you know, he's told me, yeah. But of course, a longtime lead singer and songwriter for granddaddy. And one of my all time favorite bands and musicians easily. He has recorded. Jason Lytle has recorded a little EP with two other guys. Kramer's went who records as Kramer and Kyle field. The the front guy in the ban little wings Kramer is actually the one who put this EP together. It's three songs one from each of them and they're all home recordings that each of them made in their house and the one I wanna play from Jason Lytle. This called color of dirt. And you can tell right away from the first opening seconds of this track that it is in fact a homemade recording color of from Jason Lytle. While a homemade popcorn, I'll give you the cable and. Here I'm doing some laundry right now. That's why you can hear the dryer in the background. Well, guess of God and knew how."
