Listen: Aaron Rodgers, Rogers, Chicago discussed on Under The Hood
"Off in a car and comes back and wins the game? It's you know. It's funny Kristin I during one of the commercial breaks we were thinking that it looked like Rogers forget about the night. I mean, look like. Did they could have been a season ender? And we're thinking about the fact that the number one game that we wanted on our schedule this year, and we got it is in November. And it's Green Bay at New England where you know, you've got Rodgers and Brady and that never happens. I think it's only taken place one time and in a commercial break. We're we're kind of kidding each other about we're not laughing. But we're taking you realize that's a game. We could now flex out of you got on Kaiser going up against Tom Brady. All of a sudden, you know. Wow. What's gonna happen here? Who knows what made of Green Bay plays the way they played last year after Roger's got hurt that would have been a game, we might have flexed. But here we are. I don't know if it's gonna play this week. It seems to be a game time decision now. But as far as the bears are concerned. Yeah. I mean, I love the way they started the game never been in Chicago had to put a great first two happening forbi-. He's going to be very good. Love the new coach. I think he's got a lot of great ideas. And you just fell victim. The team fell victim to to American comeback album of Waddell is always the smoother less emotional of the two of us because I'm still pissed off. I do see the optimism. But like in look, I get an e you and Chris are there, and it is Aaron Rodgers is awesome. Aaron Rodgers is great. We've seen great performances as bears fans to Aaron Rodgers into foreign Brad far for me as a bears fan at least in the last couple of days. I just kept shaking my head because I felt like the bears. Blue one of the best defensive performances we've ever seen by an individual in Cologne MAC, and I know training camp. And then be I felt like is good. As Rogers was there were still numerous plays. The bears could have made to still win the game as great as he was. Do you agree with me on that? Oh, take a look at the interception at the end of the game. That wasn't. It's real simple. I mean, folders got the ball right on his chest. If that end of the game, of course, the game. I thought the one thing that Rogers did do the other night. In addition to you know, being right on target and he picked up the tempo in the face. And you know, you had a guy like a little MAC. Who had no training camp? And I mean, those guys were getting gas. There's no question about that. But I I agree that that you know, that game could have ended any number of ways certainly on on that interception. I mean, the fact that Cobb was able to get that free spins around gets free and is able to get a seventy five yard touchdown on a third and ten, but that's the way football is is you guys know, I mean, it's determined by stuff that happens that that it's dramatic and different and unusual. And that's why we love sports. You don't know. What's going to happen? Was speaking of that out. You're the the last guy to ask about whether or not you've ever seen a miracle and sports, but with mine when did you start to feel like, oh, this is really a possibility that Aaron Rodgers on one leg that this is gonna happen. Well, I think at twenty two ten you felt that way, you know. I thought Chris really good point in seventeen nothing bears are driving. And let's say they get a. Touchdown instead of a field goal in a twenty to nothing sounds like something they can sort of still in the game. I mean, it truly is a it's a three possession game as a twenty four nothing labor. The twenty four nothing leaders three possessions with three touchdowns and three two point conversions. So that that feels like you wanna bring him back in. It's twenty four nothing, right. Mccarthy probably would have at that point nothing. He wouldn't have. But at twenty four nothing me. Maybe you don't at twenty to nothing. Okay. Let's see what happens. And we know what happens, but at twenty two ten you can just feel it beginning to shift. I didn't think they win the game at twenty two ten, but you know, you feel that the crab was mortuary silent at one point. And now all of a sudden he gets them back into the game. Now, ain't got a whole different thing. Going on, you know, the rest mentioned before Rogers too far before that here in Chicago. You know, it's been musical quarterbacks. And we keep waiting for finally that next great thing when you watch this key. Do you believe he could be the next great thing? I I like what I see. And and we we had him in the meeting the other day got to you know, to talk to him. He's very confident. You know, I think he's he's very smart. He gets it. He's lost social media, which I think is terrific. That's a good idea. Yeah. There's no question in my mind. That's that's that could be a really good combination Nagy and Trubisky through the years. I mean, he seems to have all of the skills, and I harken back, and I don't know if I ever told you guy, this guy's this. But when I grew up in Brooklyn, and I'm a kid, and we're playing Punchbowl out on the street. There was a man who lived to apartment buildings down from us. And he came out one day, and we sent him. Hey, you know, you wanna play with us. And he did his name was civil luck. Number two draft choice overall draft that a Colombian making thirty nine whatever it was and trubisky's number two. So, you know, me since I was a child and I played Punchbowl on the street with Mr. Luchman, I always try to get his name into the broadcast. So he so I think Trubisky is gonna keep sits name alive on Sunday night football. Well, we certainly hope so. Allied. We've been talking about this now for well over a week. The decision by Jon Gruden to trade Khalil Mack. And fortunately for those of us here in Chicago. He traded him to our bears. I haven't heard a good explanation for why John did that do you have any idea? Why Jon Gruden would make that decision? I think it would be money. Let's not just Gruden. I mean, Reggie McKenzie's involved in that too. And so is Mark Davis. The owner I think that they felt that the number one they're paying car a ton of money at quarterback. I'm not sure, you know. I hope it better work out for them. They're going to Vegas. I, you know, I I it's a hard thing to figure, but. The fact that and we had back in the meeting the other day, and they only talk once Gruden and MAC had a conversation on the phone. And that was it after John got the job. And I saw the interview with John the other night, but he did with Lisa Saulters in which he said that you know, he just felt it back in his mind and the raiders by MAC wasn't gonna show up. He didn't come in for OT as you didn't come in for training camp. And they didn't expect them there for the season. So it was time to move on with there's something behind this. I don't know, you know, you hear rumors et cetera et cetera. But I think that from the get-go it felt to me like they weren't gonna come to an arrangement with MAC. You didn't feel that for instance, with Aaron Donald and the Rams you kind of felt, you know, this is the same scenario we've seen the past couple of years. They would get that done. But there was something that just didn't feel right about the the MAC and Oakland thing I I don't know maybe who knows maybe John fields and the raiders field that they want to spend most of their. Money on offense. I mean, look the MAC thing that's a big number stubborn and Chicago was able to make room for them. And and again, one of the things one of the reasons they're able to do that. It's forbi- skis on a rookie contract. The other guy at Oakland is on a you know on a contract that at one point. I think was the the highest in the league for about twenty minutes. That's the movable thesis. We know.."
