First Black inmate put to death since resumption of federal death penalty


CBS's Maria Garcia on the first black inmate to be put to death tonight as part of the Trump administration's resumption of federal executions. 40 year old Christopher Viagra was executed in Terra Haute, Indiana after being convicted 20 years ago in the murders of a white couple in Texas. His execution is the seventh federal execution since the Justice Department. We started the practice this year after a 17 year hiatus more than 40. 6% of the inmates on death row are black. There are 56 federal inmates on death row at this time
