Los Angeles - State Lawmakers Push For Gov. Gavin Newsom To Address Backlog Of Unemployment Claims


A group of bipartisan lawmakers is asking Governor Gavin Newsom to begin paying unemployment benefits as the state clears the backlog in the system. In a letter, 63 members of California's legislature told Newsome the Employment Development Department is failing the people of California. The letter asks for numerous things, including retroactively, certifying claims in order to expedite the approval process of unemployment benefits and implementing the new callback
