Listen: Billy Joel, Billy Joel Elton, Melton John discussed on Charlie Brennan
"Back on the voice of Saint Louis. Campbell ex how you doing? I am great. Thank you so much for having me again. Well, I gotta tell you people who see you in concert exclaim with all caps that you sound more like Elton John than Elton John. And you're a you're just sound more like Billy, Joel, and Billy Joel you are actually based in Saint Louis, but you play all over I play all over, but we live here in Saint Louis always have. And that would be a nice compliment. If I really did sound more like Billy Joel than Billy Joel or Elton John that Elton, John. But it's a great compliment because I love both their music so much for a long time your band dogs of society only played the music of Elton, John, correct? And dogs. The society is actually lyrics out of which song. Goodbye yellow brick road where the dogs of society how go from. And so you'll you'll start off with the Billy Joel Newsweek, and then place Melton John yet the way we're going to do it. It's it's we're going to I'm going to be Billy Joel for the first half of opening up for the the show. We're gonna play about an hour. All Billy, Joel stuff. Then we're gonna take a break change outfits and then come out and do a full two hour Elton John show. Now, you play and sing, and you got a band that recreates the sound of these two artists. So it's not you just playing the piano like at the mall. Not not at all the band that I have are top notch musicians, and we really try to replicate an authentic concert experience. Like, you would see in the seventies. Like the late seventies. No tracks no backing stuff. It's all live. We've got a full band. It's much more of a rock and roll approach to this music. I bet this is the dumbest question that's ever been asked. But. Did the to ever create a hit record together, Billy Joel Elton, John? I don't think they ever released anything. They had a hit tour that people talk about young. Yeah. I mean, people tell me all the time. How great that was. I, of course, missed it is Billy Joel sill performing a monthly at Madison Square Garden. I think he is. And there's isn't there talk about Billy Joel taken it on the road and doing stadiums across the country. I think he's already done that. And we have one that. That's right. Hey, okay. So here here it is folks at four three six seven nine hundred eight hundred nine to five eleven twenty two of the great Grammy award winning artists, Billy Joel and Elton John. They'll be the subject of a tribute by our guest, John gore at del mar hall, February sixteenth, but this morning you can on this Thursday before the Grammys give us a call with your favorite Elton, John or Billy Joel song. And we'll try and stump. John core. How does that sound if I know it I'll I'll I'll try it. How about this? How you play the peon on. Both are great keyboard artists. How is their work different? Obviously. They're both great at what they do. But do their styles differ. I would say their styles do differ. I think a lot of it is just their age L Johnson older man, and Billy Joel and they grew up in different areas. Of course. So I see Elton John is more of a traditional jazz influence, and maybe some of the old honky tonk give me. Example of that. More like that. And Billy Joel is more. Jazz and."
