Republican leaders are working through the weekend in hopes of avoiding a government shutdown. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy told reporters today that he's optimistic some sort of a deal will be worked out ahead of the September 30th deadline. The California Republican called it crunch time. McCarthy added that he's willing to accept a stopgap funding bill to keep the government running to allow the House more time to finish the appropriations bills. President Biden is joining the United Auto Workers picket line. Brian Shook reports. Biden tweeted that he was going to Michigan Tuesday to stand in solidarity with the workers as the fight for a fair share of the value they helped create. This comes after UAW President Sean Fain announced earlier this week he would send more workers to the picket lines if substantial progress wasn't made with the big three automakers on a new contract. Union workers say they want a 40 % pay increase, cost of living adjustments, and pensions for all workers. I'm Brian Shook. NFL fans who took part in Thursday night's fight at Levi's Stadium could face a lifetime ban. Video of the violence during the 49ers Giants game showed numerous fans in an all -out brawl in the stands with a man grabbing a woman by the hair and throwing her towards a railing. Police say one person was arrested.
