Listen: Giants, NFC And Washington Redskins discussed on Dave Ramsey
"W O R sports zone with Pete McCarthy. NFL picks coming up later this hour. I shouldn't even tease it. They're our pigs. It Ray will have the picks that you want to hear need to hear later this hour, and I'll just do some to make my own sanity go by and have something to root for this weekend. That's basically what's Aberdares raise just hitting every single game that we picked we pick five games. We don't even do necessarily best bats. We just picked the five. Most interesting games of the weekend. Five best matchups. We picked those and raise just just killing it there. See all you want to hear his picks coming up a little bit later on in the hour here as far as this weekend. The NFL we touched on the jets and the giants the jets faced the bills. They're trying to make up for disastrous home loss to the bills. A few weeks back. They get their first look at Josh Allen who's been impressive running the football. And he's got a big arm. He's got a lot of tools is just better of will. He put it all together. I'm curious to take a I gander at a Josh Allen at least against the jets there. And then the giants get Mark Sanchez and the Washington Redskins in Washington went from a team that looked like they're in a great spot to win this NFC east. And if they're not a real playoff threat with Alex Smith bind center, they are a team that hey, you're getting a home game in the post season. And you cross your fingers hopes some good things happen. Instead now, Alex Smith is that gruesome leg injury, and he's had apparently multiple infections, and we hope all is is going as well as it possibly can for Alex Smith is they sent out a release yesterday saying that Smith that his family are just asking for privacy at this time, which is certainly scary. But now now after Colt McCoy got hurt their onto their third quarterback. Mark sanchez. We know all about the Mark Sanchez experience. So the Redskins. They are. They're in a terrible situation. We thought car judge DACA fame network last night. He said he could imagine the Redskins not winning another game for the rest of the season. And that's conceivable. And that's what happens when you lose all of your quarterbacks. And you have a guy was sitting on the couch two weeks ago. Now trying to lead a playoff push for you. So the giants another very winnable game. And if they do win this weekend. Boy, you're going to look back at that. Philadelphia. Eagles lost couple of weeks back and say. Could have been a life. They could have been hanging around in this whole thing. And instead and just too far gone to really get optimism about any kind of Iran. Big batch up in the NFC east though this weekend, not the giants Redskins. But the Cowboys and eagles going head to head and the Cowboys coming up that surprising win on Thursday night football against the New Orleans. Saints defense that has really come together. And you shut down the saints. Like they did last week. That's uber. Impressive stuff. And the Cowboys don't know that they get the long week now against a divisional opponent in the Philadelphia Eagles. This is a this is a huge game within the division. The Cowboys on their home field can come pretty close to locking up the NFC east because they would be four and one in the division and they'd be two games. Clear of the Philadelphia Eagles and the eagles. They've been winning some games of late, but that is still a very flawed football team far more flawed than we ever would have guessed. Coming into are coming off a Super Bowl victory. But they're just so banged up in the secondary that you know, we'll we'll get into that matchup. And who I think a win a little bit later. Really who Ray things we'll rent but as far as Cowboys eagles go that's a huge matchup within the division. You also have the Houston. Texans can lock up the AFC south. Thanks to the titans. Win over the Jaguars yesterday. And it was the other way around that. If the Jaguars would beat the titans, they would have been able to win. But the Texans they're closing in on the last two double check that on an AFC, south, title, two and a half games ahead of the Tennessee titans. They'd be up three with three to play. And the Texas. They could be dangerous once they get into the postseason with the pass rush that they have to Shawn Watson very talented quarterbacks. Texans. Get the colts this weekend and can put the colts at their at their sites. As far as a potential division champion the Carolina Panthers a team that was going pretty well a few weeks back but Cam Newton's apparently been playing hurt with the bum shoulder. He won't quite say it, but he has said as much that you could tell something is amiss as far as Newton's performance is concerned and the Panthers they had that wild game with the giants won on the big field goal. And they're just sitting there at six and six way up at the same. In the wildcard situation in the NFC. It's still relatively open for them. But the Panthers going to have to do some taking care of business is weekend. Right. They get the Cleveland Browns. That's again that the Panthers absolutely have to have. And they just haven't been nearly good enough to given up over three hundred points as far this season. So that's a key matchup for Carolina. Well, I'm looking forward to and I think probably just for your eyeballs the best matchup ripe for actually sitting down watching a game. And seeing how it's gonna play out about Chicago Bears defense, which looked a little more human against the giants. Then we have seen over the course of this year. They did not take advantage of the giants offensive line, which is improved. But they also chase Daniel on the field this week. It'll be Mitch Trubisky back out there and they get the high powered offense of the Los Angeles. Rams. See you have this great modern Rams offense going head to head with this. Bears defense that is deep that is talented that as for the most part handled their business this season. That's fun. Well, we'll say is the bears really shouldn't be taken aback by the Rams offense because the bears offense is modern with Nagy running things there that it shouldn't be a complete flabbergasted. Oh, we weren't prepared for spread in four receivers run all over the place that should be something that the bears are capable of handling. They see it in practice essentially every day, and it's a much less mobile quarterback dealing with two then Trubisky, but just in terms of entertainment of how that will play out. I think that'll be very interesting. And if the bears managed to even stay close in that game, they keep that gave very close, and it comes down to the wire. I think it shows that the bears they'll be able to be a dangerous defense first team in the post season. And if they could somehow some way lock up a home playoff game, and they're in a good shape right now their game and a half ahead of the Minnesota Vikings boy Soldier Field in January that could be. A tough place to have to go in and play for seventy teams that are look at the wild card spots around the lake, but we'll pick some of these games coming up at L PEX myself and Ray Martell coming up walls of John Feinstein later this hour on the army navy game tomorrow afternoon. It's the sports zone with Pete McCarthy on the voice of New York seven ten W O R, and now a page from the diary of Flo. Diary, there's something about protecting people's homes through progressive that inspires me. 'cause I just had an idea for a book. Well, it was originally idea for a movie based on a play inspired by a podcast.."
