Has a high altitude object was intercepted and shot down as it entered U.S. airspace today off the coast of Alaska, national security spokesperson John Kirby says it was a smaller object than the spy balloon. The object was flying at an altitude of 40,000 feet. And posed a reasonable threat to the safety of civilian flight. Out of an abundance of caution and the recommendation of The Pentagon. President Biden ordered the military to down the object. And they did. He says no word yet on if the object belongs to China The search for debris from China's spy balloon shot down last weekend has been called off until Monday due to weather, a U.S. official says teams believe they've located a large section of the surveillance payload on the ocean floor. The U.S. is sending more aid to turkey and Syria following Monday's earthquake nearly 23,000 people have died. And after 5 days, crews are still digging through the rubble and finding some survivors. That according to a spokesperson for the former VP, throughout the search, a lawyer for the former VP was present as the Department of Justice investigators were given unrestricted access. Bellevue's ardmore, eastgate and wilburton elementary schools will be singled out for possible closure because of dropping enrollment. Some parents not happy after last night's announcement. I feel like this process has been jammed down our throat. I feel lied to. Hoodwinked, bamboozled. The only maneuver from here forward is as our legal options. And we will be pursuing this. It is now up to the school board to make a final decision within 90 days and decide the fate of these elementary schools are more eastgate and wilburton. So what happens next is that additional notices will go out to parents, families of those affected schools. Before that final decision, a hearing is going to be scheduled at each of those schools that will include public comments, February 27th, 28th, and march 2nd. Paul Rivera reporting, declining enrollment brings declining funding to Seattle public schools. Says no school closures are being considered for now, but that could be a solution in the future. Seattle public school says that they are discussing merging some schools, but says the earliest it would happen would be in the 2024 to 2025 school year, Luna says, while funding is out of their hands, it's a waiting game to find out whether there could be schools that permanently close. Detectives say Oakley was last seen on February 10th of 2021 when she was 5 years old. Neither of her parents have cooperated with investigators, both also serve time for child endangerment charges related to Oakley's siblings.
