Listen: Panthers, Kelvin Benjamin, David Tepper discussed on Dave Ramsey
"Different. But I would've just been. He's a baseball guy. Go. So we were talking a little bit about coaching situations any big takeaways from the Panthers making some changes to the staff and Ron Rivera ticking over defensive play calling. We talked to Darren GATT last hour. He said he thought that's basically what it would be. He didn't see any big picture changes like say head coaching front office for the Panthers kind of where you're thinking too. I mean. Yeah. I mean, I would never say never on anything. I think I think the David Tepper. Here's the deal when you have a do odor. And you have if I paid two point five billion dollars for something that had people that work there. I would evaluate everything top to bottom. And I think David Tepper is a big fan of Ron Rivera big fan of mardi Harney. Anybody heard? He's doing a great job really all stirring, the talent level on that roster. I don't think that at the end of the day, you're going to see changes just to make changes. But I think the Carolinas struggles down the stretch and can't make the playoffs. Did you could? At least see David Tepper sort of, you know, go through and do whatever you energize and and and evaluate the season make decisions coming from the Steelers lineage and being a long time, you're going to see a guy who's gonna be patient and thoughtful in the way that he acts with with with with relation to personnel and coaching staff. So I think it's too early to say, but certainly if you're at the Panthers were to lose out or something like that. Tape Panthers had a really good draft class TJ, more and DJ. Jack Sunday Jackson. It's called a Cleveland. So that was good. And then also we Marty's trait of Kelvin Benjamin looking pretty good after buffalo released earlier this week. And then he ends up with Kansas City. Yeah. It's it's like it's like selling your parents bought you a car trashed it and sell it back to like why why did they pay you for that? Why why did they give up a third round pick for him? You guys in grand and Sean McDermott real were part of the the organization when Calvin Bidu it was brought in you think they would've known precisely what what sort of work ethic, and what sort of player in all that they were dealing with clearly that was a bad overpaid. A really good job. I Marty Harney to secure that traffic for basically nothing Kelvin Benjamin. If you look at the stats mean the guys who were drafted after that spot in terms of wide receivers bills you trick wants Smith. Would have been nice KiKi crochet. The Texans would have been these young talented guys who would be helping out the bills a lot in that draft slot instead of the Panthers got richer. Thanks to Kelvin Benjamin last year. Buffalo was a great story that made the playoffs for the first time at twenty years. As was a great story in Jacksonville came very close to reaching the Super Bowl last year. They've been floated this year. What's the what's next season this offseason looking like for the Jaguars in terms of coaching in their organization. That Super Bowl window was more like a Super Bowl screen door flew open for a quick second. And it is slam shut its can be crazy to see how this Jacksonville thing. Plays out because there's so much going on that. I think I think an average fan would look in the Jaguars and say, okay know, they got a great defense. Played terrible. Have Blake Bortles, you know, they can they can recruit recruit and get a quarterback figured out. They're not bad enough to this isn't a class where you're just going to score a top a top quarterback. First of all a second of all they're not manning. Derek Carr or Joe flacco away from contending Chris when you look at their salary cap situation. Blake Bortles unless he's traded or signs a big contract with another team is giving count sixteen point five million dollars against their salary cap next year in dead money, if they release it they'll say five billion dollars by doing so they basically have to twenty three million over the salary cap heading into the off season to one one and maybe two. More than likely to actually those three big name defensive lineman in class Campbell me Jackson Marcell Darius to those guys are probably going to be salary cap casualties. They're going to have to look at extensions for Jalen, Ramsey miles. Jack and Janaka quick and all three of those guys for various reasons might be willing to hold out if they can't get the money that they want Jacksonville. And then you have the situation where Doug Marrone. It seems unlikely that he's going to be back next year. And there's a real possibility out there that you're hearing the guide in two thousand nineteen might very well be Tom Coughlin pulling a very rest coming down. Getting back on the sidelines and coaching the Jaguars. It seems to possible to imagine. It's it's growing increasingly likely to that could ask for Mack Brown is not available. So it could be. Nineteen ninety seven dollars. Forget it's like one of those Jason movies. We just keeps coming back. All right. Well, we'll you're looking for well Brenton he'll be at home. You kick it out of the driveway five inches of snow will enjoy the game today. And we'll check in again next next month. I if I get my direct TV working, I'm excited to watch football. Yeah. Just go shovel off the dish. Don't worry about."
