Listen: Golden Globes, Dick Cheney, Hugh Hewitt discussed on Hugh Hewitt
"We were loaded up with guests in the first hour and a half two hours of the program. This morning. We spoke with David Ray of the federation for American Immigration Reform. We spoke with salena Zito from the New York Post and Washington Examiner. We spoke to congressman Jim Jordan. About the shutdown and more. And of course, we just spoke with the namesake of the program. Hugh Hewitt joined us not from Jerusalem he recorded that a little bit before because he was in Jerusalem yesterday. He is in Ankara Turkey today with national security adviser John Bolton, and they are really really getting some great worked on there. It's it appears especially not only in establishing, but in clarifying Trump administration policy as pertains to the ongoing fight against terrorism and are important presence in the Middle East to stop organizations like ISIS or new ones from forming or reforming if we were to create an absence there. So really really great stuff there. One focus those we start our number three this morning on Hollywood. Because Hollywood was at it again last night on something called the Golden Globes. Now, full disclosure. I did not watch the Golden Globes even more full disclosure. I never watch the Golden Globes even more. So I don't watch award shows. I really have never been into them. They've. Board me for low these many decades one institution just spending three or four hours of American time honoring itself, patting itself on the back. My god. We are awesome. Are we not here is one of us who is more awesome than the rest of us? And here's somebody else who is more awesome than that. They just got their annoying. They're to me. They're rather pointless, at least in terms of the extravagance by which they go, particularly when I'd like to know how much it costs. I really would what is the final price tag on the production of the Oscars from venue to physical costs on the on the locations to to of course, the production values of everything they did. I can't even imagine as they stand up there. And then preach about how moral they are in about how concerned they are about the little guy about how concerned they are about middle class America and about how these terrible evil Republicans when they get political only. About the one percent of the rich and so on and so forth when they are the richest of the rich their hypocrisy knows no bounds at any rate. And then watch it because I don't watch those things. But of course, I do have to pay attention. If anything happens there because what I do for a living. And I was told by generalissimo this morning that yes, it did get a little bit political Christian bale, the phenomenally talented, Christian bale who gave Batman a new life after the embarrassment Batman series that started with Michael Keaton who was good not great in my view. But then, of course, the degenerated into George Clooney and Val Kilmer and so on and so forth of silly comic versions of the Batman series, Christian bale came through with the Batman begins and the dark. Knight was just phenomenal. He's so good. He has been so good at so many roles, which is why I was happy to see. Hey won the Golden Globe for best actor in a drama yesterday. But I was told that he didn't just talk about his acting. Thing he made sure to talk about his his character. He of course, played Dick Cheney former Vice President Dick Cheney and the dramatic bio pic if you can call something that is filled with so many inaccuracies a biographical picture. I mean, don't you want you, and you're going to buy a biography of somebody or a bio pic on somebody? You don't you have to kind of like actually captured the truth about things that happened in their lives. Then do that in this movie, you wouldn't expect? So the movie is vice it is up for best picture in for the Oscars as well. Or at least it's going to be and he is getting all kinds of praises Christian bale. First performance anyone last night? And he made sure in his acceptance speech to let everybody know how much he hated the man that he was playing cut number two. Bunch of lucky bug is real right to make a life doing something that we love. Extraordinary. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of that for so many years. Thank you. You told me lessees more say less right now, she knows the thumb crap can come out on my mouth time. Can sink and ruin."
