Listen: Lakers, Luke Walton, Jonathan Williams discussed on The NBA Show
"The familiar faces are no longer there, even though we did have all. Have a monster game and Patty mills or hit the big shot last night. What did you think of this new version of San Antonio? Couple of things. The first one that really comes to mind is D'amoto Rosen, right? I was talking with somebody before the game about how you know I, it's disappointing that we don't get to see John Murray and Derrick white with the opportunity to run point for this team. But that does mean demar Rosen gets more opportunity to be a playmaker last year. We saw him make strides passing the ball for the raptors because of the increased role. The changed offense under doing Casey and this year with San Antonio, he's been kinda pushed into more of a heavy playmaking role in last night. He had the fourteen assist to only two turnovers. Granted against it was the Lakers just horrified turnstile defense. I mean, the Lakers defense is really, really bad. It is probably worse than what a lot of people expected it to be. It's still interesting to see the rose and in that role as a playmaker. And then the other thought is just sprint Forbes. That guy's got a flame thrower shot each season. He's gotten better. This is his third year now with the Spurs at his shot has really developed and third shot. Thirty nine percent from three last year shooting nearly fifty percent so far this year, that guy can hit big time shots at the hand in his face. All right. So what do you think the issues are with the Lakers? What does Luke Walton have to figure out? We touched on this a little bit yesterday and he check in terms of rotations. I think like Alonzo ball starting over Rondo. Once Ronald comes back to me, that's number one. I think Lonzo ball better fit Knicks LeBron James and he's a better defensive player and then to close last night's game. Luke Walton stuck with Josh heart over Canadian contiguous caldwell-pope who is just a heart is a far better player in virtually every category. I think in a more consistent player as well. Besides that curse. Look, I mean, speed Mikhail Lukin Jonathan Williams last night, getting an opportunity to play. I think that says a lot about where Walton in the coaching staff is with Michael Beasley and zoo, bats. Williams was solid last night and he he's a good rebounder after two years. Two years, Missouri two years again saga and then MCI. Luke didn't hit a shot last night, but he has a flame thrower from three. And I'm curious to see if those guys get more minutes moving forward for the Lakers to especially with my to increase spacing, but also improve the defense because javale McGee you look at his numbers last night. Sixteen points on thirteen shots, eight rebounds one block and it's like, oh, you know, not bad, but then you know, you watch games in the, you know, those six files. A lot of them are avoidable falls and the Mr. -tations and you see the lack of communication. You know, they need to find a defensive. Big McGee can do it for you in fourteen fifteen minutes per game, but nearly thirty minutes for him as too much. They need to find another big nice little shat out for Jonathan Williams. I actually found him in high school as a Memphis kid as one of the few that was a highly recruited kid that left the town. On and went elsewhere. And obviously then he ended up on that Gonzaga team was outstanding that he was a part of and the I certainly didn't expect him to go into the league and end up getting fourteen minutes at a big game, but he did well last night. What do you think about the coups medieval? Because he ends up taking twenty five shots last night. There's probably not a lot of nights to be fair. I don't know, given the pace, maybe we're seeing a lot of guys take a lot more shots than you're used to. But in the absence of Brandon Ingram, you saw the full display of Kuzina now not only do you take twenty five shots. He played forty five minutes in the game. You know, is this one of those? We're going to look back and say, this is the huge Kouzmin night, or do you think that MC could be primed, especially now playing alongside LeBron James that they've gotta figure out a way to make the most of what coups McCann bring to the table and last.."
