Listen: Danielle, Chicago, Mike discussed on Never Not Funny
"She said You shut up nine one complain. I'll have have Mike. This is in your control. I didn't like the show that is on you then. Okay I thought I should talk gear assistant sal ammoniac but now here's actually through the air conditioner on the floor at the Amish mm-hmm and there was a right in front of me and I was just coming off being sick and I'm like I don't need this to happen again. I don't need everybody else's disease me circulated in the right in Daddy Addi space the star of the show already sick onstage take a sip water onstage Mike Daniels. There's a microphone right there by the way a a Danielle and I my beautiful wife Danielle. We were rattled by how it was obvious. You are under the weather and yet you refuse to take a sip of water for ninety minutes. Well here's here's why I don't bring water on stages I I've never. I've never liked having walked ca preoccupied with the water that can't stop drinking the water and then it becomes like about the water water but one time where you literally were having trouble with the coughed up. Somebody in the audience hoots hollows Wisconsin. It was you were able to acknowledge it. You're not one hundred percents scripted. Sure so in that case though you have little rattling your throat could you not turn to the guy and go. You don't want to have a little bit of water. I did that had this weekend. I the cough was not great this weekend. At one point I improvised. I said I apologize. I walked over to grab some Ta. I Apologize College is a little bit of a dry cough this week because the city is on fire. I think some people enjoying did not. Ah That's Edi- give it audits right all right. Mike Lee is here. Let's take an early break. That's the way to handle. This is here. He's got the one last week one more week. Shows eight more shows that the arms in the beautiful. We've seen many show at the medicine. Yeah that's great. When I watched the one that you they had the wrong night board? I did that That was the Jimmy. I'm sorry to call you but you're leading the the negative it does feel. Was this show that the only thing you remember that you gotTa help me remember the show. It's the I'm blanking on. It's based on the graphic novel about the woman whose father was in the closet and she's a lesbian. Evan Hansen and now I I probably right yeah I bought tickets fun home and then Jimmy bought is fun home and I said Oh. Yeah we're going thing and then I was like I we we could At least going if you wanna go with Danielle. Why don't we go the same night that'll be fun? And so you bought tickets and then I don't know where it happened. Maybe as I. I said we're going. We're going on Sunday. Whatever and then from that moment on I took it on faith that that was the night? I had tickets for uh-huh so we got there and we were like but I've ridiculously lucky that we were able to go to the box office and they were like we got a couple apple seats. You could just exchange. I cannot believe this worked like usually get in Hamilton. Yeah exactly you just and it was the tickets we had for the previous night or something so it was like it was we. Were not going to see the show. Been Cool about it. What is your friend Jim? Do what your friend Jim do when you text me etc tickets for the wrong night. What did I I do? I don't remember I ran outside to make sure you guys wrote why out Democrat McCarron Guy was worried about my buddy. I don't find a solution. It all worked out and I went to the box I took care of it. No I said well I think he came out and I said I. I guess we gotta go the box. I I was nearly. Yeah go to the box office and that was in the right direction. You showed me where the box was the little something on a personal here. He's a good person that was an example of it. Yeah head over there. They should take care of the What else are we haven't Hanson? was there fun home was. There's it's my favorite theater in L.. A. Once what come from away yes. That was their incredible. All the shows I've seen they're by far my favorite by far. I mean I love Ann. Hanson to booed acknowledge. It just saw days ago but this other ones by far away by far the best shows you ever seen Los Angeles. I'll tell you why more people on stage I'm distracted. How you're up there by yourself? How is he doing? Oh Lord is he gonNa Deposes Endo like. I didn't know what was going to happen. Meanwhile you participate in the same art form. You make a good point just not to do. Just what the one person I do voices no I I will say I have more of a mix of an audience. I don't have many rich white people as you do in your crowd uh-huh subscribers to the Amundsen Broadway subscription unless you get the NPR folk right isn't that NPR fo- come in. Yeah sure And then I'll tell you something about tripping folks. Some of them fall asleep. Do they were fine. They need a nice nap. You're providing it's providing it I got an. As our voice you know. I got nice voice in And they say and then we other thing is a lot of subscribers. You know literally late all when all said and done in Los Angeles thirty seven thousand people love scene show which I can't draw thirty seven thousand people anywhere so that's subscriber people right and so when I walk through the hallway to sign step after the show. People don't even really know who I just saw ninety minutes and I'm in a different outfit all here like I'll while the other day I walked through here I heard woman go. I liked it. The guy in front of me was snoring. I'm right here Yeah those horrible but if you know this may fall asleep but it does not look at him again like you wouldn't accommodate cut it all. I'm not offended by. I'm really not the honesty it's like you think like well. What if it was my parents? What would I yell at my parents? Yeah I would dad we got and I think yeah I would and then I yell at them good smart. My Dad was at my show show yesterday. My father came to see us and yelled at him at one point during the show right you did what we we had about. Thirty six thousand. I see what you're getting. I see so when your dad comes has become a lot over the years. My Dad has come to every time every time we're in Chicago. Yeah yeah well. That's nice to either. A podcast. Aping the standing up. I don't WanNa came into my last ending up comedy one but certainly is coming to the podcast. Does he like it he does. That's the reason I say is. Because my parents at this point they will obligatory in an obligatory way. They'll show up but I don't think they like it but they don't tell me they don't like they don't like what what they what this show about. They thought it was okay. I think it's hard to watch your son talk about pain. Real real up and there's so much of the show's about paying cancer sleepwalking. But kid had a kid at heart. I don't think they wanna hear me talk about that. And I think they want to show up to Thanksgiving and say things are going right into Christmas. Yeah do you do you do your does your sense of humor match your your parents sense of humor it. It's it's a mix so my mom is has that sort of Irish storytelling thing where you know. She tells a lot of stories and God knows knows what's true and she likes to talk a lot and my dad very dry and so I have some of that dry. You know. It's somewhere in the middle. Yeah Yeah like my dad comes star shows when we're in New York but I don't he's very supportive but it's really not his cup of tea so a AH come on man. That's me. No he enjoy like he's he's senior. Stand up any enjoys it right but like oh you're the well my entire life. I've always felt like I don't. I know that he gets my sense of humor on your kid. That's very hard to reconcile. Because you don't have any perspective on it you just want. I just wanted to make him laugh and I didn't know. Oh how I guess so weird but now I'm just like it's okay that we don't have the same sense of humor but it also makes you also don't have to come because they don't feel obligated. Yeah I just go. If they're anything critical I say okay boomer insulting get it right. That's a new thing. I understand that you're on twitter so also young people are saying that the older folk. Yeah I heard someone at my daughter's middle school say it on Friday in context that made no sense it was like Might've been saying it to another kid. Also it's just love saying there's love love saying okay boom. It's catchy it's boomers is right. I understand what I don't know what it was. It was it was it was The day of runs a where where the parents can bring their kids lunch at lunchtime like from McDonalds or wherever you want get food from so it's exciting for them so you all these parents pile in and so it's crowded. The hallway is jammed and and so it's hard to get through and trying to get through and the kid just said Okay boomer. No one's baby in thirty years Jan.. Yeah it's like we're ridiculous but that's what they say but again. Everybody Ignores Generation X.. Try It's always was left out of the conversation as boomers. That's all. You won't shut up your your genetics now. I think I'm I think I'm just a tad tool your next. No Your Act I. AM got sixty while it used to be six seventy five but now it's sixty five to eighty I think You're eighty one. What what does it no one day? Sixty one to eighty nine. Zambales are eighty. Two something eighty-one it's the new one that they created in the middle of at least be the same the same span of time for everything. Sure why is one of them to a twenty year stretch. Another one's like there's some kind of an event that happened that defines them diff- what happened in nineteen eighty ZANU micro generation of the people on the cusp of Generation X.. And millennial demographic cohorts. Oh so it's xenical with an ex. Yeah not just more annoying. Something between boomers is in genetics. What's that because boomer's seems much older than me I think? Genetics is the children of boomers. Basically and it's defined by when a you're an adult and can make decisions. I thought the boomers was that they that was because of World War. Two people having sex during World War Two ended a bunch of men came home and they all fucked came named Elmer. So right Salvatori lay right. Come on man between late. Seventies and early to mid eighties is Mike. Do you know what you are. Your ex Amax. Yeah my seventy eight have you. I'm a hard act. Thank you I will say this before. We go to break that my my father when he came to it I by no means by comparing my one man show two mikes. It's not at the Ahmanson I was at the acme and then I was at a conference room and Chicago When I did it in Chicago my mom and stepfather came and then my My Dad and his wife game and they My my momma. Stepdad laughed and loved it and I could see it and my dad kind of was the all time faulk cheese. I wish he would have set further back so I didn't see space in this room and when it was over I loved it he goes I just I laugh much.."
