Welcome back America use. It means. It's the fetchy MRs Hewitt, thirty well, I'm not gonna Tammy birthdays. She's had thirty seven years. She'd been married to me, but she is celebrating today, and we'll find a movie to go to today. We love that sunny bunches our movie critic, and I was hoping he'd seen rocket man. But he just posted that he's going to be reviewing X men dark, Phoenix. Do not see rocket man yet. I haven't seen rock band yet. I'm planning on it this weekend. We're going to talk about it on the subject and podcast next week. Have you seen you? Yes, I did. We did. But we do not believe it. We'll have much reach below those fifty years or younger. We think it said of a period, with our age and our youth. Do you think that this is a function of people, my age say, not recognizing music? No, I don't think you recognize the hedonism, and I mean just, just no one will understand. How wild the seven in the eighties were I just don't think well, we'll see. Tell me about. You were talking about blocking band right now. We want to let me do you think that we didn't understand TVN rested, event hedonism that was on display in that film bohemian rhapsody was about an artist who is all times conflicted? It didn't matter. It was Mozart or, or Freddie, Freddie Mercury. They're always conflicted. This is about the age. This is really more about the age. We do see the conflicted, young issues, not loved that story. We understand, but it's so tied to the seventies and eighties. Nearly ninety the troubadour. I mean, do you think anybody knows what the troubadour was is not my age? No, I don't know what that is right now. I'm not talking about okay? Then we'll be right, right. Tell me about Phoenix. Okay. So the exit movies are kind of an interesting little time capsule of our whole era. So making really the first X men movie came out in two thousand and it was the first big budget. Comic book movie from marvel. Right. They, they had released blade before that there was a terrible punisher movie years before that. But this was the first real big budget movie starring a Marquis marvel comic brand, and it was a huge hit. It was a big hit. And it kind of sparked this whole this whole generation of filmmaking. What twenty years of filmmaking, I think you, can, you can plausibly high back to the success of efforts experts. And so it's kind of an interesting journey because this is the one x men. This is the one series. You know, that had never really been read booted of the of the major classical, you know, we've had a bunch of superman. We've had a bunch of Batman. We've had three different different interational Spiderman movies, come out, but in theory, X, men movies are all kind of between continuity and average salt as a result of that continuity. As a result of the fact that these are all kind of wooden all of these movies. We didn't stay on which is basically packing adventure and they all have safe to say method, which is, we need to accept people who are different from us. This series has gotten stale and boring. Very much like a comic book, it is almost any, these X, men, X, men movie. So the dark Phoenix is the end of a twenty years to August more or less and it involves Jean grey, who is a psychic under the care of professor Charles exhibitor absorbing some strange cosmic powers and trying to figure out how to control it before she destroys herself and her friends, the movie is written, and directed by Simon Timberg. His first read to'real efforts. He's written a bunch of these men movies. I'm not terrible. It's not a terrible filmmaking. It's not incompetently made, I think some of the character, some of the actors move your waist. The jets. Saying plays the heady a shape shifting alien whose powers make no real sense and whose motivations are very, very vague. So, you know it doesn't have very good villain. Which is always a strike against these movies ask you, if they solve the problem of the beast, I'm an X men addict, I was when I kid, probably along with or in Conan, the ones, I read the most and the beasts is never really played much of a role in these movies before and I see in the trailer he does he have developed character. Hi. I mean the beast gotten more play in these last two or three men movies, then he then he ever did in the original series where I think he shows up briefly, as Kelsey grammar in men, the last stand. But the the the, the beast is, is better utilized here than in some films, but still kind of wasted. All the characters really. I mean it is it the problem again is, is not that it's bad. It's just boring. I don't really care about any of the things that are happening is anybody died that we don't want to die. Okay. There's there's, there's a there's a let me put it this are there any red wedding events. I don't think there's anything that will come as an enormous shock to people, we need red weddings that we need more red wedding. We need more red weddings. It's bottomline sunny bunch. I look forward to talking to you about rocket men next week. Sunny, bunch have a great.
