Get ready to do patrol and I'm here with my other co host the ever incredible ever blue in his bright royal blue t-shirt Jesse Jackson Hello so oh I'm ready to talk flex patrol but before we start I wanted to mention very interesting point that Jane mentioned she hit known the chief for fifty years. Wow they do a good job of riser and products right and nobody blinks tonight that nobody's nobody's going like well. How are you still alive with helping you? We'll we'll talk about that here a little bit but but but yeah yeah it's just more of the <hes> immortality in play that <hes> for whatever reason nobody seems to blink an I hear this kind of kind of interesting <hes> but <hes> yes as Jesse said we're GONNA hear it episode thirty three of Titan Talk. We're GONNA talk flex patrol as we kit to the home stretch of our first season of doom patrol this episode thirteen released just a few days ago on May Tenth Twenty Nineteen Gene and <hes> by the way happy mother's Day everybody here on as we're recording this and <hes> this was episode was written by Tom Farrell who co wrote the episode Puppet Patrol and wrote the episode Danny Patrol and along with tomorrow Becker Wilkinson who was the other co writer on puppet patrol and wrote the the big doom patrol patrol episode so we've got some serious. Doom patrol vets here some of our favorite episodes. They've written directed by T._J.. Scott knew the series and definitely looking forward about talking about this one with you as we get the full dose of flex men in tallow men of muscle mystery and looking for two years thought this episode I am. I feel like I've become <hes> redundancy man of redundancy by just keep saying I just love and I love the episodes of I'm sure we'll talk about the very nice kind of Mr. Nobody appearance at the end. Yes Oh yeah that's that's all. That's topic number three stuff yeah. There's a big revelation of course at the end Mr nobody still up to his new good. No no good knicks <hes> manipulating waiting some other people and apparently he has a plan and <hes> we get a good taste of that here in a very fourth wall breaking moment. We'll talk about here in our third topic today. <hes> guess cast this week Doc <hes> we get the return of Devon Chandler long no longer just as seven to two is now officially flex Minto <hes> John Modell Darren Jones who we thought was probably possibly killed but I can't keep oh good villain down I guess and he's revealed as still being live not dead yet altitude Iq of course Mr. Nobody who we just talked about we get the return of Ethan McDowell is Charles Forsyth the young one from Larry's he's flashback back to the sixties in the end farm. <hes> we get Ed Asner as listed credited as hospital patient although he turns out to be something quite more and <hes> obviously Jesse Ni- being as older than dirt as we are. We were familiar with Ed asner because you know back when I was a kid the Mary Tyler Moore Show introduced him as Lou grant a character popular enough to get his own spinoff show and he was also <hes> he's done a lot of vocal animated vocal work especially in in superheroes involving superheroes that wanted to run down really quickly <hes> so it was great to see him here on live action not doing patrol <hes> he's most notably known as the voice of Granny goodness on superman the animated series and Justice League unlimited and <hes> just you know very cool. It's very funny that have a Guy Ed asner playing a female character but if you know if you're familiar with granny goodness I I always thought probably was perfect for this. He truly is a AAC icon of my youth. <hes> you know it was someone who I <hes>. You always knew he would give a a good performance in added some <hes> I'm really straight to it and then our younger <hes> listeners may know him from a certain animated movie correct well. There's some several actually the <hes> he played the character Perry White and all-star Superman based on the twelve issue Mexico series by grant Morrison Doom Patrol writer and and frank quietly ties in nicely he was also the voice of J. Jona Jameson you know who of course has his one or two issues with spider-man on Spiderman the animates series and for you Batman the animated series fans as I am. He played the recurring hiring villain Rolin Daggett on that show so he's hit a lot of you know the Iris go euro. He made a project in yeah. Yes Oh okay. That's right yeah so yeah so that's a good that's definitely that's big one because if you're a big Pixar Geek yes thank you for mentioning that it's all I like him. Yeah charts the face I mean obviously has more hair her as car all but I just saw <hes> unlike oh that's Kinda. That's a nice get to get someone of that. <hes> yes that depth and <hes> you know yeah he's He. I mean if you go through I._M._D._b.. Page he's got such a long in his career going all the way back to the sixties and <hes> so he's obviously a T._v.. Veteran he's done a lot of things <hes> obviously we can spend all day talking about all the time as fan and he had a really great part in studio sixty on the sunset strip. One of the Aaron Sorkin shows that was a one and done but I of course being sorkin fan you know loved it and he played a great guy for that so yeah just Li it is. I'm scrolling down. You know there's so many and we're not eat like I said we could be here all day talking about it as career rare but this is not bad spin master talk probably not sure how well the ratings will be that one but you know we'll keep in mind <hes> we also had a cameo of course return to Phil Morris as Silas Stone. I was so happy after all with we'll talk about that. We'll talk about that in her first segment but yeah that was that was a big surprise wasn't it <hes> we get another Cameo Cameo of Alec Mapa as animal vegetable mineral man who gets another <hes> footage cameo as we get to see him gunned down by an assassin but thankfully hey animal eventual mental remands still kicking and and <hes> must d._N._A.. Something so that's why he's <hes> exactly yeah that's right it did hit as I showed up which is about that was hilarious. He was on entourage and I cannot believe how much mileage just a little bit me. It's a little touch of seasoning that they've added him through this thing that's really got a lot of mileage out of a a weird character yeah well. If you notice we we kind of get an update on what's going on with him in this court case and everything every few episodes and you know it's just it's kind of this weird little like yeah it's missile sub subplot and it is kind of find just to kind of check in with it because he's such a goofball character. <hes> I kinda hope though I wanNA see him run into the doom patrol one more time so maybe maybe season to that would be great. <hes> thankfully we still not dead though <hes> get Haley strode as the young Dolores and I wanted to mention her <hes> she's been some interesting episodes of things <hes> she's been on episode of is Zombie Nine and she's been on castle and if you remember the show the astronaut why is club she was also an episode of that so <hes> just I've mentioned her and then we return of Susan Williams as the old Dolores who <hes> sadly meets her end in this episode much to <hes> Flexes Horror as it turns out and we'll talk about that here a little bit more in a minute so <hes> for equal cast. I WANNA run down some quick trivia before we into her main topics because there were a few nuts the comics in this episode <hes> just real quick. <hes> won't take very long <hes> the hair cutting scene where flexes hair and beard are trimmed off by Jane Ainun cliff and it's kind of funny because cliff is trying to cut with robot fingers here with us really huge scissors <hes> in the comics in that that actually that's he took place in doom patrol volume to number thirty nine <hes> but it was was actually by one of the characters that hasn't been introduced yet here on the T._v.. Show dorothy spinner so <hes> if you read the comic you know there's a little slight difference there but no big deal and <hes> I thought the scene worked out really well here also in patrol number two number forty two just a few issues later we get flexible Mattel's origin story and what we find out there is <hes> in the is kind of addressed addressed here on the TV series is that <hes> flex was captured while he was investigating infiltrating the Pentagon now if you remember me telling you that the end farm is located deep within the bowels of the Pentagon so he was looking he basically ends up in an farm and he gets captured by the men from nowhere who if you recall those were the original characters that have been kind of replaced here on T._v.. Show by the Bureau of Normalcy and and you know they'd use their little elbow oboe devices the men from nowhere do and they place him in what's called the tea room of despair this kind of little limbo realm and essentially he's captured in and then kind of <hes> experimented on by the and for me ends up losing his memory but he escaped somehow from an farm and he's left to kind of wander around homeless and crazy and then he in the comics he ends up on Danny the street and that's where he hooks up with the doom patrol so obviously a slight difference here from the comics but <hes> slight you know basically the justice there <hes> if you substitute the men from nowhere for the Bureau of Normalcy and then lastly <hes> in the next issue forty three Delors Watson listen <hes> Mrs flex men tallow <hes> returns to flex as an unwitting agent for the men from nowhere kind of like she was here for the bureau of Normalcy <hes> she gives him his costume in the comics and then ages to dust just like she does and the T._v.. Show <hes> just before the men from nowhere locate flex so <hes> that that part at least where she kind of crumbles to ash and dust and whatnot blows way in the win <hes> basically she gets Tanto snapped and <hes> okay that's right from the comics so so thought I mentioned that so that's the but very cool Easter eggs. If you're a grant Morrison to patrol geek once again all right all right let's get into our main topics and managed to come up with a theme here at the last nine that's right before we got on the podcast so paret for <hes> necessity being the mother of invention <hes> So oh actually pretty decent deem as it turns out I think <hes> topic number one total recall and that is I want to talk about flex dolores cliff in Jane so this is the a big <hes> flex mental episode we get a little flashback sequence <hes> back in the sixties with flex and Loris having trying to have a nice little picnic when things go horribly horribly awry and then we get obviously later pick up with cliff and Jane trying rather frustratingly to get flex to recover his memory so think about <hes> flex in this episode. What was your take on the cadillacs lacks <hes> this is because obviously I haven't read the comics don't know if this is a comic character but I was surprised that with all the muscles cels that <hes> he actually has more mental powers and in fact you you win? They're setting up the picnic I you're like <hes> and then you very quickly see that even though he's flexing and showing his muscles calls he truly just has wonderful you know telekinesis and moving things and <hes> yes yeah it is as well you know exactly. That's probably the mental tallow part in a mental part is art of his name <hes> but yeah it's it's flexible. Powers are really weird just kind of like they are in the comics basically he can just you know pose and flex or whatnot and then just yeah strange things have have loved it is all somehow like he's like. They're getting ready for the picnic and he's like materializing like plates food and milk glasses of milk in you know a little of Tulip and. You know just five posing these new like magic he was he was funny. Both before he.
