Woody Kaine, Miami discussed on Programming

Homestead Miami speedway I'm woody Kaine and hear some things are a little different than what we've seen over the past few weeks well there been no practice or qualifying again there've already been three other races on this progressively bank service featuring the Xfinity and Gander RV and outdoor truck series also there are some fans in the stands today as we mentioned in the open with more on the way meanwhile it's over ninety degrees today in South Florida versus the much cooler temperatures we typically see in November when championships have been decided at homestead Miami which is two hundred eighty seven miles south of Daytona international speedway as many of you heard the Xfinity series just wrapped up its second race of the weekend here chase Briscoe one with AJ Allmendinger picking up the one hundred thousand dollars spent eighty dash four cash bonus by finishing third now let's catch you up on some of the other news headlines of the weekend motor racing network NASCAR news there's already been a ton of on track action this weekend at homestead Miami speedway the Xfinity series kicked things off Saturday with the Hooters to fifty Kerrison Burton scored the win holding off Austin Cindric and Noah Gregson when a late caution a raised a big lead for brexit Burton's second victory of the season after his win at auto club speedway back in February the race also marks Dale Earnhardt junior's return to the Xfinity car for the first time since Darlington last year the veteran said he was extremely nervous considering he had no practice maybe possible for somebody to race in any of the top three the card here for a while but I was really nervous I really underestimated it's harder morning imagine the junior finished fifth and said afterward he's not sure how many more races he wants to run and while he enjoys doing one race a year he knows there will come a point where he moves entirely to broadcasting again RV and outdoor truck series followed Saturday night with the Baptist health two hundred Kyle Busch got back to his winning ways in the series leading eighty two laps and notching his fifty eight truck series win bush rally back after getting a pre race penalty and starting from the rear as well as going a lap down firmly on in the Cup series Denny Hamlin starts on the pole today it's his first pole of the twenty twenty season the field was set by random draw Wednesday night's race under the lights at Martinsville was won by Martin Truex junior for his first victory of the season he said becoming successful at short tracks has been a slow process for he and his team you know I grew up on short tracks and that's what got me to where I pretty much want all short track series and then went to the car I couldn't do anything wrong so it's just been a learning process you know to figure him out these tracks are really tough yeah I think for our team you know the last five years or so really just continuing to work on the little things it takes to get around these places and they're really excited obviously your first on of the hottest topics all week it's been NASCAR's decision to ban Confederate flag from NASCAR events and properties the decision came after bubble Wallace and others were outspoken about the flag and its presence at track the decision was met with mostly positive support with bubble leading the way saying he's eager to see how diverse the fan base can get let's get back to allow fans to come back into the capacity just to see how much more diverse different demographics we bring in so I would love to see studies on that as we start allowing fans to come back so we are talking about next steps and how to keep the message and keep the ball rolling com here on Tuesday with the leaders of NASCAR and a couple drivers that have been kind of push the efforts to so so excited about that phone call and Austin Dillon is.
