Listen: Facebook, Tommy John, Elizabeth Warren discussed on The Drive Home with Jillian Barberie and John Phillips
"Now, there are other attempts by various Democrats to hone in on the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. The chief person trying to rival Bernie in this area is of course, Elizabeth Warren. Pocahontas, the native American Princess. Now, Elizabeth Warren, I think she pulled what was a pretty solid stunt yesterday. She tried to put ads on Facebook about breaking up Facebook and Facebook took down the ads and then Facebook to replace the ads the ads touted Warren's recently announced plan to unwind anti-competitive tech mergers, including Facebook, acquiring what's happened Instagram as I mentioned yesterday. This is really dumb. I'm not sure why Americans lives get better. If what's app is not owned by Facebook. Like, really I use what's up on a fairly regular basis. We use Instagram. I have no idea why the world has changed in any market way. Because Facebook owns WhatsApp or Instagram. Why the world is worse. The ad say three companies have vast power over our economy, and our democracy, Facebook, Amazon and Google we all use them. But in their rise to power they've bulldoze competition used our private information for profit and tilted the playing field in their favor. Now, if she's talking about the threats of corporatism, the answer is to limit that from the government side, the answer is not to go after corporations, which after all are profit-seeking and are happy to use the government as their tool. It's always bewildered me that the Occupy Wall street movement decided to Occupy Wall street as opposed to occupy in case freed why wasn't the occupy case free movement. Why weren't they occupying the lobbyists? Why weren't they occupied members of government? Why aren't they on the mall in Washington DC yelling at their legislators? After all legislators are elected. Members of Wall Street are simply working for corporations that are profit-seeking. Nonetheless. Elizabeth Warren is trying to tap into populist outrage against these major tech companies and believe me as you'll see we'll talk about it in a minute. The fact that I'm not super pro a lot of these tech companies are run. I don't like the non-transparency a Facebook. I don't like that Twitter is not transparent about whom it sensors. I don't like the YouTube is not transparent about who gets knocked by YouTube who gets you monetize by YouTube. I think it's really bad. But I'm not sure about the solution. We'd to break up these companies Facebook took down the add a message on the three ads had this ad was taken down because it goes against Facebook's advertising policies. Facebook spokesperson confirmed the ads have been taken down. But said that the company was in the process of restoring them. If we remove the ads because they violated our policies against the use of a corporate logo in the interest of allowing robust debate, we are restoring the ads, and then that let Elizabeth Warren tweet curious why I think Facebook has too much power. Let's start with their ability shutdown debate of whether Facebook has too much power. Thanks for storing my posts, but I want social media marketplace that isn't dominated by a single sensor weird because I don't see Democrats complaining too much about the media landscape being dominated by a few key players who happen to side with Democrats. So was with wearing trying to outflank Bernie. But I I don't think she's going to be able to realistically speaking, Bernie, we'll have an easier time marrying, Elizabeth Warren and Elizabeth Warren. While Kamala Harris is it looks. She was launching strong, and she has struggled to break free from the rest of the crowd. She's pulling about the same as Lisbeth, Warren nationally. She is not broken through in Iowa or New Hampshire, and she is basically making an intersectional appeal essentially saying I have a better view on race than anybody else. And she was trying to turn that intersectional base against Bernie Sanders. She's trying to suggest that Bernie doesn't have enough connections inside the black community to truly understand the problems of the black community. Whereas she Kamala Harris has those connections. She said listen we haven't had discussions on race, which which comes to shock to me since it seems like every other discussion in this country is about issues of race. We."
