Listen: Pizza Hut, Technician, Eric Olsen discussed on Journey to $100 Million
"I was in college I drove for Pizza Hut. So I delivered pizzas. And it was just a fantastic job. I would get in my car with some pizzas. Listen, tunes and deliver them and I get tipped. It was Franklin, easy job, and it was amazing. One of the guys that worked at Pizza Hut. Clued me in on a little scam. Here's how the scam goes and this is what I got caught up in. If every once in a while you would go to a place, and you would deliver pizza and they would give you a coupon on the spot. They when they called in, they did not say they had a coupon but you'd get it like on the spot. And so you had to do the math in your head and it's usually pretty easy. Dollar two dollars three dollars off. But you would give them a discount, right there. When he came back to the store, the Pizza Hut. Then you would say, hey, this person had a coupon here it is. And you own Pizza Hut. Less money. Right. So if you actually collect say, fifteen bucks, and there was a two dollar discount to coupon. Then you only collected thirteen dollars he'd give that thirteen bucks to Pizza Hut. Instead of the fifteen bucks and give them the coupon too. So that was the scam. And there were a couple of people that were running it at, you know, at the Pizza Hut that I worked at a college and I got caught up in that. So I was trying to make a quick buck and I started to do it. So every once in a while I would. Throwing a coupon that was not correct. I wasn't given to me by customer. I would get the coupon from the paper or something like that. And I I did it a few times, and then I did it for big orders and big orders, until at some point the management knew that I was not being truthful, and what they did is they called the, the customer, that I went to, and they asked if that customer and given a coupon and they said, no. And I was busted, and what happened was. They did the right thing. And this is something that I will do now, which is they call him into the back room. They asked him what happened I can fast and they fired me on the spot. It was the right decision, and they should have done that as a matter of fact, they should've done it even earlier. I now know that, that is absolutely the wrong thing to do. And if they would have kept me, it would have been even worse because they basically would have sought my wrist and said, you know what? It's okay if you do stupid stuff like that, you can't let people do stupid stuff like that and your business. You know, whether it's your business or your operating business if you do not trust them, if there's any reason whatsoever, why you don't trust them than they have to go. What am I? Business buddies was telling me just today. He runs an HVAC company and he was just today that he caused someone sleeping in one of his trucks. It's not a fact. It wasn't even him. It was one of his customers caught a technician sleeping in the truck ticket pitcher and sent it to him. Guess my buddy, did he fired him? And this is a guy who is really struggling to keep technicians around. If you find someone that's doing something like this in your business. They have to go it doesn't matter how good they are. If you can't trust them, then you can't give them any responsibilities. And if you can't give them any responsibilities they can't do their"
