Listen: Apple, Jason Snell, Official discussed on Rocket
"Want to handle the summarizing for this one? Yes. So breed. You have anything you want to say, I don't want to be a mildly upgraded. I don't know what to sell. Actually, it's a significant upgrade. But it's fun. It's difficult group. Does it? Go ahead. Yeah. Yeah. So I mean, it's been like four years or something it's been sense. Years. It's been years since there was any significant update to to the MAC many. This improves things in a in a couple of ways one. I'm you either get the quad core or the heck Sukur Intel a CPU so the same as what's in the the current, amac. Our macbook pros rather. But you still get the integrated graphics, which is weird to finally this is a big deal memories. Upgradable again, they did this thing couple years ago where are you longer able to upgrade the memory on your MAC, mini, which is eighty audit? So now, the twenty seven inch five K I MAC, the MAC pro if you take it to an apple store, and the new MAC, many are the only max where you can actually upgrade your own memory a three it's now SSD all straight through four for storage for the poorest situation is actually pretty good. So it's a, you know, USB see Thunderball three, but there's also regular USPA. There's also I believe. A HDMI, and there is no SD card slot. But no, port wise. It's actually a fairly robust owed. There is a gigabit Ethernet or whatever. So so it's fairly robust on that regard. I'm glad that they updated this. 'cause I know people who use this for like server scenarios to run things or like kind of run things in their home on really like it. My only kind of thing is I still feeling the price point is completely is too high for how long it's been. And I've been looking at at one eight I'm gonna be on a download on Thursday with a Jason Snell, and Stephen Hackett, and I'm going to be talking about it with them Jason built a hack and talk using an until nook a couple years ago to replaces MAC, many and based on the pricing. I want to know from him like would he like do that again? Or would he? You know, get a MAC mini 'cause when I price it out. I just feel like it's too expensive. I I'm glad I'm glad the updated it. But the MAC mini originally the whole thing was that it was five hundred dollars. You brought your own mouse and keyboard, and it was the cheapest way to get a MAC now, it starts at eight hundred bucks. And I. You know, I don't I don't feel like it's competitive to what other solutions are out there, especially since you can hack and toss a desktops way easier than you can laptops. And and that way if you want MAC OS, you can do it. But it's also not like apple as official like modern display, right? So it's not like like apples us Sunday of prey their fishing display. Was the thunderbolt right? We'll do they work with LG to make the LG five k and four k displays. Okay. So the partner. So I'm saying like official apple stub new. Yeah. No, yeah. No, they no longer do gap. Exactly. So it's not like it's not like people have like it's been so long since apple has shipped to monitor that, it's not like people have a spare you monitor around their house or keyboard the way that that they used to you know, when this product came out of two years ago, it was not uncommon to have that just sitting. Around. But now we're so far into the notebook future that it's like, I mean, I'm MAC with the display especially retina model comes with is so amazing. They're just throw in the the processor and all that stuff for free. So. I was looking at this. And I've got a couple of older apple a CD display in my office.."
