Hey everybody we have a special membership drive addition of the frame today where to talk with the director of a little movie called wonderwoman her name is patty jenkins in two thousand three patty jenkins directed the independent film monster was about the serial killer eileen warn does the film brought it star charlie's there on a best actress oscar given its subject matter in a small budget monster was a big critical and commercial hit the reward for jenkins she didn't get to direct another movie for fourteen years but her next film was wonderwoman which is now a global phenomenon i'm going mother futures to never return willing a fast the movie starring the israeli actress gal gadot as wonderwoman open to more than one hundred billion dollars at the domestic box office but the story of wonderwoman can hardly be told through box office returns and it's critical react action the movie has generated an avalanche of think pieces quite a few of which have been authored by women who spoke personally about what it was like for them to watch the film sometimes sitting next to girls having their own experiences when i spoke with jenkins i asked her what this past week has been like for her since wonderwoman came out it's extremely surreal feel like i feel like it's been so wonderful touching rewarding a release i really assumed it would be i dunno morc a more controversial experience and some sort of way where it's like i you win some you lose some not everybody's gonna care about what you care about and so it's been mindblowing at them so blown away by the people reaching out from all over the place including competing projects to support us you now so you know it's funny it's restores one's faith and mankind in a way and that sounds narcissistic because we're talking about my movie but it's also just to see so much warmth than love coming back at us and people talking about really powerful emotional intimate personal things to themselves and what they found the movie it's been a connective tissue to the rest of the world it's been beautiful allow reactions have been about people crying during the opening seen in the land of the amazon's and in the fight scenes to that reaction surprise you the people like bursting into tears watching something that they really never seen in a movie.
