Pearl Jam explores new musical territory as the group's first song emerges from the first Pearl Jam album in seven years the album giga ton will be released in late March as the band is kicking off a sixteen date north American tour on pearl jam's YouTube page most reaction is positive but some call the sound weird it may take some getting used to guitarist stone Gossard tells Rolling Stone it's the outer edge of something we haven't tried before and there are straight ahead rock songs on the record Steve case and CBS news in this week's WCBS author talks podcast the prize girl is the debut thriller from Amy Kay green the stories about a murder child pageant queen and her older half sister Virginia who's convinced the crime isn't as black and white as everyone thinks the book is drawn parallels to the Jon Benet Ramsey case but green says that's just a coincidence having Jenny be a former pageant queen actually came later in the process I knew who I wanted Virginia to be and I can try to figure out okay who can be the opposite of her like I wanted to be somebody should be invested in but so different from her and then I was like well I'm gonna go with age ages and easy way to make them different and asked that I wanted to make her more angelic compared to Virginia's darkness and then it kind of came to me there so it wasn't something I set out to do in the beginning it just kind of landed there to hear more check out this week's WCBS author talks podcast minded wherever you get your podcasts WCBS news time twelve twenty three get a whole new perspective on.
