Listen: President Trump, James Comey, Komi discussed on The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer
"Topping our political radar today. Former FBI director James Comey in fuller, attorney general Loretta Lynch got thanksgiving. Subpoenaed House Republicans are requesting private depositions for their investigation into F B I actions during the twenty sixteen presidential campaign, quote Komi tweeted that he's happy to answer questions, but we'll fight a closed door appearance. Because quote I've seen enough of their selective leaking. And distortion. Let's have a hearing and invite everyone to see President Trump says his thanksgiving holiday and more Largo is a walking vacation he told reporters he would be spending some time talking to potential candidates were candidate physicians. He didn't say who might be leaving the cabinet or who would be visiting for interviews. But that quote, everyone who leaves the Trump administration has come out. Really? Well, the revolt against Nancy Pelosi seems to be. Losing steam with yet another democrat from Antipolo see camp now planning to support her bid for house speaker New York, congressman Brian Higgins, one of sixteen Democrats who signed a letter opposing Pelosi says, he's changed his mind. Here's why. There will be a new speaker sooner rather than later, but the reality is you can't oppose somebody without an alternative candidate. And there is no alternative candidate. If you want to run for speaker stand up and in announce your candidacy and advance the arguments as to why people should support you there is there is nobody to do that right now. Right. Ron I'm going to go to you on this the subpoenas for Komi and Lynch at this point. Is this something that we're actually going to see them coming before congress door? What's your sense of this? And why is it happening at this point? Yeah. I gotta think they're gonna they're gonna fight it and try to run out the clock on the Republicans. We'll see if they can look I think this is very revealing and it goes along with the tweet from Chuck Grassley yesterday. Reproaching John Roberts for criticizing President Trump and Lindsey Graham promises to investigate these same issues, if he becomes a chair of the judiciary committee next year. It is again a sign that despite this election Republicans in congress are doubling down on locking arms around President Trump, even though the as we talked about in this election ninety percent of the voters said they disapproved of Trump voted democratic that was the highest share presidential disapprovers who voted for the other party in one thousand nine hundred eighty two since nineteen eighty two. But yet all of these signals are that Republicans are going to be in the same mode going forward just as Trump is in the same. Going forward in Jeff if you're President Trump if idea of bringing Komi as well as Lynch before congress, probably sounds like a pretty good idea. No doubt about it. I mean, we've we certainly know the president view of James Comey. We've learned this week that he tried to get his own Justice department to investigate the actions of James Comey. And when we also know that the firing of James Comey is front and center in any type of obstruction inquiry that the special counsels offices looking at so the president would like nothing more than that. But as Ron said time is running out the clock is running out here. Republicans house members have just you know, just a few more of puddles of sand in the hourglass or whatever metaphor you want more. They relinquish control to Democrats, and we know that the house of representatives hardly as working off thirty one days of December here. So I do think the idea of this ever happening behind closed doors is is likely not to happen. But that doesn't mean the Senate won't pick up the baton where they left off in the new year here, but the White House would love to see that. We'll see what if it ever happens. But I do. That they would fight it. And again, this could end up in court. We'll see where this close a quick programming note for our viewers. Once you're done in join thanksgiving dinner, especially macaroni cheese, make sure to watch Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson big eighteen hole showdown tomorrow afternoon. The only places to see it Bleacher report live in pay per view at three PM eastern. We'll be right back.."
